In the
novel, Gatsby�s American Dream could not come true because he missed out on
love. He had all the money he could ever
want but no love for a woman or a family.
He did love Daisy some time ago, but now that she is married to Tom and
has a family it would not have worked. Gatsby
said �Daisy is leaving you� (Fitzgerald 133) to Tom and then she agrees and
Daisy�s says �yes I am.� After they get
home she does not even speak to Gatsby wants on American Dream but just cannot
have one because the love he had in his life is not there anymore.
In the
newspapers article, everyone talks about how the American Dream is about coming
up from nothing and getting social status, wealth, and happiness. All the people said they would not give up. Since 44 percent of people actually reached
the American Dream, not even half of them have given up on it either. The American Dream does not come easy and
people do obtain it.
As
times get tougher so do people. �You
want to hold to your American Dream even more when times are hard�(Seeyle 1).
This means that you have to work hard to get the dream in life because nothing
comes easy. Like, Gatsby thought it
would be easy to find her and then just fall in love and everything would be
